Rio Grande Sports Information
RIO GRANDE, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande men's track & field team did its best to turn the 2015 Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference into a body-building contest - and was rather successful in its effort.
The RedStorm flexed their muscles from start to finish and cruised to the conference title on Saturday afternoon at a rain-soaked Stockmeister Track & Field Complex.
Rio tallied 13 individual and two relay titles en route to garnering 315 points as a team and defeating runner-up Point Park University, by a whopping 204 points. Indiana Univeristy-East was third with 99 points, while Brescia University (32) and Asbury University (8), finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Sophomore Alex Presley (Zanesville, OH) was the RedStorm's heavy hitter in terms of individuals, winning a trio of championships. He took top honors in the hammer throw (42.92m), discus throw (45.00m) and shot put (14.09m).
Freshman Jordon Cummings (Columbus, OH) won both the high jump (1.98m) and long jump (6.37m) crowns, while four others - juniors Austin Wilson (Gallipolis, OH) and Tim Warner (Pomeroy, OH) and the sophomore duo of Austin Moore (Swedesboro, N.J.) and Nate Kosnich (Pickerington, OH) - were also directly involved in two championships.
