    KENT, Ohio - Connor Messer established a new school record in the pole vault over the weekend as the University of Rio Grande men's track and field team got its indoor schedule underway in the Golden Flash Gala at the Kent State University Field House.
    Messer, a sophomore from Ashland, Ky., tied for fourth place with a toss covering 14-06.00 - moving him past the previous record of 13-11.25 set by current teammate Nikola Andjelic at the 2016 NAIA National Championships.
    Messer also placed fifth in the High Jump with a leap of 6-02.75.
