[Women's Track & Field] Rio women cruise to KIAC title

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio - Athletes representing the University of Rio Grande women's track & field team captured 11 individual and two relay titles and the RedStorm rolled to a lopsided team championship in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship meet, Saturday afternoon, at the Stockmeister Track & Field Complex.
    Rio Grande piled up 315 points as a team, easily outdistancing runner-up Point Park University, which finished 125 points behind the RedStorm. Indiana Univeristy-East was third with 45 points and Brescia University placed fourth with 43 points.
    Junior Carrie Coriell (Lucasville, OH) had the biggest day for the RedStorm individually, winning three titles and finishing as the runner-up in another. She took the top spot in the hammer throw (44.39m), discus throw (38.00m) and javelin throw (30.21m) and placed second in the shot put (11.92m).
    Freshmen Tyanna Petty (Somerset, OH), Maddie Rigsby (Reedsville, OH) and Keri Lawrence (Reedsville, OH) all played roles in three championships.
