    McARTHUR, Ohio – University of Rio Grande track & field head coach Bob Willey has announced the signing of Vinton County High School standout Wade Barney for the 2015-16 school year.
    Barney, a 5-foot-7, 165-pound sprinter/long jumper, just completed an outstanding prep career for head coach Jon Lindner's Vikings.
    Last week, Barney posted a seventh-place finish for the second straight year in the boys' Division II long jump finals at the Ohio High School Athletic Association Track & Field State Championship in Columbus. He placed sixth in the same event as a sophomore.
    Barney also qualified for the state meet in the 200-meter dash – an event in which he was a three-time district champion - but did not reach the finals.
